Unemployed before child birth, but worked 7 months full time and became unemployed again?

Hi,

I was unemployed before my child birth.
2.5 years after my child is born, i got a full-time contract employment for 7 months (2017-02-01  to  2017-08-31). My contract will end in a week and then i'll be unemployed again. So far, we (both parents) have used 200 days of parental leaves all together.

Could you please answer my below questions?
1) If i take a parental leave from September-2017 onwards, how much money will i get per day? Will it be paid based on S-level (or) L-level?

2) If it is paid on S-level, how long will it be paid like that?

3) If i take a parental leave from Jan-2018, how it will be paid?

Apart from the above questions, if you think that some other info is quite useful to know in this context, then please share that info as well. Thanks in advance!!

  • Hello,

If you apply for parental benefit, you yourself choose on which level (S or L) you would like to apply.

Parental benefit has three different compensation levels. One level is based on the size of your income, while the other two levels pay you a fixed amount per day.

The sickness benefit level [sjukpenningnivå] is based on your sickness benefit qualifying income. It applies to you when you have a job and income. On the parental benefit application you mark the day with S or sjukpenningnivå.

The second compensation level, referred to as the basic level [grundnivå], is SEK 250 per day. You are eligible for the basic level if you have had little or no income. On the parental benefit application you mark the day with S or sjukpenningnivå.

The third compensation level, referred to as the minimum level [lägstanivå], lasts for 90 days. The minimum level is SEK 180 per day. On the parental benefit application you mark the day with L or lägstanivå.

The leave will be paid as long as you applied for it and as long as you still have days left. You can check the amount of days you have left if you log in with mobilt Bank ID or Bank ID on Mina Sidor (My Pages).

After you finish your employment and you manage to protect your yearly income, you might receive the parental benefit based on your previous income even when you do not find a new job immediately. If you would like to know more about how to protect your yearly income, you can find the information in English here.
