Retrospective parental benefit

Hi there,

My wife started planning for her parental leave and she wants to include 90 days prior to the application date (retrospectively) but she is confused about whether we are eligible to these days or not. I came to Sweden as a student in 2015 and she accompanied me together with our daughter. I finished my studies and started working 1st of July this year while my wife is still unemployed. On the website we were able to select these previous 90 days but this goes back till May, so our question is: Are we entitled to parental benefit from May or only from the day I started working?
Thanks in Advance

Regards

  • Hello Ali,

Your wife can send her application for the parental benefit retroactively from May.

Please be advised that Försäkringskassan can only pay Parental Benefit for up to 90 days back from the day that we receive the application.

However, it is also important to underline that, this is a public forum and we can only answer to questions in general. That is why your wife should send her application so that we can investigate to see if she is eligible to those days.

She can also contact our Customer Centre on the telephone number 0771-524 524 (press 8 for English) to get further information on her specific case.

    Best regards,
    Özge
