What happens with my parental leave days after my child turns 4?

Parental leave Days (original headline)
I have 169 sjukpenningnivå days to take, plus 57 lägstniva. I plan to take 150 sjukpenningnivå days as a whole block. It says on the website only 96 days can be saved after the child is 4 years old.

If I start to take the 150 days, in one block, before my child's fourth birthday, but the block ends after he becomes 4 years old, is that allowed?

E.g. I would start my  150 days leave on 1st January. He turns 4 on 9th January, but my leave would end 140 days after that birthday.

  • Hello Steve,
    thank you for your post.
As it says on our website here, you can take out parental benefit up to and including the day the child turns 12 years old, or when the child finishes grade 5 in compulsory school. However, you can only have a maximum of 96 days saved after the child turns 4.In other words, if the remaining days you (and your partner) have not taken out for your child when it turns 4 exceeds 96 days, those days will automatically be reduced.
    Kind regards,
    Fredrik Administrative officer
