Parental Benefit Student Plus Employment

Hi,

I am a doctoral researcher and permanent resident of Sweden from August 2016 and student resident from August 2012. I am planning to go on parental from 1st December, 2017. Although I am on employment from August 2016, but when the child was born (July 2013 and march 2016), I was on student scholarship. Before August 2012, I was not in Sweden.

Will my parental be calculated on my current salary or on scholarship at the time of child birth or I will get 250SEK/day?

So basically the question is these 240 consecutive days of work is before the time you apply for parental or from the day of delivery? But the extra question here is parental on Scholarship possible?

    The first 180 days out of the 480 days of parental benefit based on the income you have now, as long as you had sickness qualifying income during 240 consecutive days of work before the estimated delivery date.

    If you have worked fewer than 240 consecutive days before the child is born, you receive 250 SEK per day at sickness benefit level for the 180 days out of the 480 days per child. After you, the other parent or you both together have taken out 180 parental benefit days out of 480 days, you receive parental benefit based on your current income.

    Scholarship is usually not considered as sickness qualifying income although there are some exceptions such as Marie Curie scholarships. Contact us if that is the case otherwise you may receive the parental benefit at the basic level, which is 250 SEK per day at sickness benefit level.
