insurance for aupair in Sweden

I'm going to receive an aupair from Asia for 1 year. I would like to know if she will have health/social insurance covered by Försakringskassan? If yes couldn't you please explain what is covered and what is not?
Thank you.

  • Hello,

Försäkringskassan can only answer questions in regard to social insurance in Sweden. If you have questions about the right to health care in Sweden for persons that come from counties outside of EU/EEA you should contact landstinget.

In regard to social insurance a person does not have to register at Försäkringskassan if they do not need to apply for any benefit. However, if a person is in a need of benefits from Försäkringskassan, certificates for health insurance abroad, EU card or dental services they need to be registered at Försäkringskassan. To be registered one has to send registration application 5456 together with relevant documents that are listed in question number 8 in the application.

You can find the application 5456 here .

    Best regards,

    Natalia Specialist
