How to bring Partner into Health+Accident+Pension Insurance?

Hi All,
I (male EU-citizen) will likely soon be retroactive with 1st May 2019 Prof/Chair at a Swedish University.
My partner is from China and she plans to move to me to Sweden in autumn at the earliest.
I wonder which different ways are there to bring her into the Swedish Insurance System (covering health, accident and pension)?

A. I assume work would be the easiest way, right? But she executed in China a academic and very Chinese traditional profession where she might not get adequate work in Sweden (at least soon).
B. Thus, in particular, but not exclusively
1. what about becoming student (but I did not found the study program most appropriate for her in Sweden, but in Norway)? (in other countries it is possible to get "insuranced" in this way, but I am not sure about Sweden; and I am not sure if this covers also pension or even health + accident insurance at all)
2. what about being "co-insuranced" with me (in other countriesit it is possible to get "insuranced" in this way, but I am not sure about Sweden; and I am not sure if this covers also pension or even health + accident insurance at all)?
3. would marrying help somehow in this whole situation? Are housewifes co-insuranced somehow (in other countries it is this is possible to get "insuranced" in this way, but I am not sure about Sweden; and I am not sure if this covers also pension or even health + accident insurance at all)?

Thanks a lot for your answers and kind regards

  • Hello!

    Thank you for your post!

Please be advised that health insurance and social insurance are two separate systems in Sweden. Försäkringskassan is the agency that is responsible for the social insurance.

Here, you can find out what applies to individuals who are moving to Sweden.

You are usually socially insured in Sweden if you live or work in Sweden. To be socially insured in Sweden means that you may be entitled to different types of compensation from Försäkringskassan, such as child allowance and sickness benefit. You need to register yourself at Försäkringskassan by sending the form 5456.

Once you have a personal ID-number and registered your address at Skatteverket as resident in Sweden, you are entitled to medical/health care under the same terms as others who live in Sweden. This means that you pay the standard Swedish patient fee for medical care. If you have any questions concerning medical care in Sweden, please. contact Landstinget.

As stated above, Försäkringskassan administer social insurance and ensures that citizens receive the benefits they are entitled to. If you want to read more about social insurance you can find more information on our website. You need to contact Migration Board (Migrationsverket) and the Swedish Pensions Agency in order to get answers for your questions regarding residence permit and Pension.
