There is no any specific application form. Please send in registration form FK 5456 (Uppgifter vid utredning av försäkringstillhörighet) to us with information about the other parent’s and the child’s address and personal numbers from the country they live in. Please state in addition information section that you wish to receive Child Allowance for the child living in another EU country. You are going to be asked to send child’s birth certificate and a certificate confirming your parental rights to the child. The form you can download here.

  • Hi, For how long can I receive child allowance and child bebefit for a child while living in another EU country?

  • Hi Julia,

The rules for recieving child allowance and Child benefits while living in another European Country depends on many different factors depending on what your intentions are when moving abroad. For example the rules varies if you are moving to find work, if you are just moving just for a limited time or if you are posted by your employer to another country.

If you are moving to another EU-country you should fill out and send to us an application 5459 Uppgifter vid flyttning till eller arbete i ett annat land.

You can find the application here.

You can read about what applies if you will be moving abroad and are not a student or employee, for example if you are a pensioner here.

If you want to read what applies if you move to an EU/EEA country or Switzerland to work click here.

  • Hi, I am on parental leave. I had been on it through the end of August, and applied to extend through the end of October. I can see that this was approved by the start of September. However, I don't see my payment scheduled and it usually comes in on the 25th and it did not come. Previous to my extending my parental leave I had scheduled to be paid on September 25 for the end of August payment, but now that seems to be gone as well. And that money did not come either, so I am trying to figure out what has gone wrong. I am away, out of the country right now as I had a family emergency and I fly back in to Sweden next Saturday but I am hoping to have this resolved before that if possible. Do you know how I might figure out what went wrong? Thank you.

  • There is no possibility of emailing someone with my questions, I suppose? I am in California now, a challenging time zone issue plus it just costs a fortune due to hold times etc.

  • Hi!
I intend to go back to my country (inside EU) for a few months(4-5), but at the beginning not for work. I intend to get parental leave for these months.
    1. Do I have to fill in any papper for that period?
    2. If i decide to stay in my country and work after these months, what papper do I need to apply in order to stop being insuranced here?
    3. If my country asks for E104, can you send it to me by post, or do I have to come to Sweden to get it?
    Thank you!

  • How long can a child live abroad and still can receive child allowance.
I heard the limit is 6 month. So does that mean from 7th, child allowance is no longer entitled?

  • Question : what if someone didn't inform the Försäkringskassan to stop the Barnidrag (children allowance ) ?  what is the action will be taken ?

the reason that no one inform to do that he is not aware that if more than 6 months staying outside Sweden you have to notify Försäkringskassan.

    please advise
