30 days before birth - included as part of the 480 days?

Hi, i'd like to find out if the 30 days leave taken before the birth of the child (its due date) is included as part of the 480 parental leave days? So, once the child is born, will i only have 450 days left or does it only start the day the child is born?

Thanks!

  • Hello Anne,

If you take out parental benefit before the birth of the child, it will be included. If you are pregnant and have physical demanding job you can get pregnancy benefit, up to 60 days which is not part of the 480 days. You can read more about it here.
If you are sick you can instead possibly receive sickness benefit and that is not part of the parental leave 480 days.

You can read more about parental benefit here.

    Best regards
